Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Navelencia Middle School, home of the Patriots! Our goal is to promote student achievement via collaboration between the community, staff and student body. We are committed to maximizing student achievement, communication among all stake holders, promoting students of character, higher education and ensuring a safe school environment. We strive to instill within our student body a sense of personal pride, as well as collective pride, and a love of and for our school.

Student engagement is a crucial component for student success. Our desire is to involve students as active participants in their education. We will achieve this through ongoing academic counseling with students, assessment followed up with immediate feedback, consistently utilizing standards-based curriculum, which includes using explicit direct instructional strategies and cross-curricular activities.

Parents, we need your help too! Research shows that high parental expectations and parental involvement positively affects student achievement. Please continue to be involved in your child’s education.  Navelencia is using Powerschool, a web based software system to store student information like grades, attendance and classes.   Powerschool will be a vital tool for parent-school communication.  By using your online personal login name and password this program will allow you and your student to check on his or her grades and attendance. You can also utilize Powerschool to communicate with your student’s teachers via email. If you are not able to access Powerschool at home, we have a designated computer in the library that is available for parental and student use.  If you would like help accessing Powerschool, please contact the Navelencia office at 305-7350.  We understand that your time is precious so please remember that parent involvement can also be as simple as checking your child’s homework and planner each night.

There are many new things happening at Navelencia Middle School.  We ask that you and your child take the time to learn about the services, policies, and procedures at Navelencia Middle School, by reading this handbook together.  The other sources of information for you are our periodic newsletter “The Patriot Pride” and our website

We are dedicated to student success and as a community we will reach our goals. At Navelencia Middle School we are committed to maintaining an environment where academic excellence and student learning is paramount.
